My drawings are inspired by the dignity and beauty of birds.

I'm fascinated by the fragility and resilience of birds, especially at a time when their very existence is challenged.

My aim is to convey something of the strength and determined nature of our most common birds through drawing. The drawings are informed and by the unique characteristics of the birds as well as the medium of charcoal itself.

​

Charcoal is a wonderfully receptive and immediate drawing tool. It can be moved and removed, moulded and shaped and is a joy to work with.  The charcoal informs the sense and feeling of the drawings as they emerge.
